Enhabit: body-based meditations for coming home
Come home to the felt, living presence of your own body.
We often learn meditation as a mental discipline:
observe thoughts, follow the breath, rest as awareness.
But this neglects our most essential leverage for a transformative practice: our bodies!
At the same time, many of us already work with the body in some capacity through movement, yoga, touch, or relational practice — but turn away from meditation because of this belief that it’s all ‘above the neck.’ Or, we sit down to meditate and forget that we have a body in the first place!
What an unfortunate misunderstanding! Ironically, this reinforces the split we’re trying to overcome in the first place (both in embodiment practices *and* in meditation.)
The body is not separate from awareness. Its aliveness *is* an expression of awareness. The body is awake and alive.
Enhabit is a weekend dedicated to remembering this, and re/discovering this: allowing attention to fill the body completely, until breath, sensation, subtle energy, and awareness are no longer distinct.
Meditating with the body:
• grounds insight in lived experience
• supports regulation, presence, and responsiveness in daily life
• naturally integrates different practices into a single, embodied way of being
So join us and come home to the felt, living presence of your own body.
Structure:
The basic structure I intend to follow will be to break the weekend down into four ‘chunks:’ a pre- and post-lunch session on each day. For each ‘chunk,’ we’ll learn and do a quick practice for two meditations, and then have some time for Q&A, troubleshooting, and dialogue, before a longer sit to focus on what you’re individually finding most powerful.
After this weekend, you’ll be equipped with a new set of meditations to work with, and on.
This weekend is especially for you if you
*have plenty of meditation experience, but feel either that it stays “in your head” or doesn’t integrate into your day-to-day life.
*come from Circling, or other somatic/embodiment work, and would love a welcoming, intelligent bridge into a formal meditation practice.
You can come with loads of experience, but that’s not necessary — you’ll get a lot out of this whether you’re an expert, a beginner, or anywheres in between.
We’ll go at a human pace: plenty of breaks, space to integrate, and an atmosphere of warmth, clarity, and play.

Qs: What do I need to ‘bring,’ or have?
A: Just make sure that you have a comfortable place to sit that allows you to remain alert (so, cushy sofa not ideal, at least for most of the meditations)
Qs: What meditations will you be teaching?
A: A variety! They are my meditations, learned and adapted from different places (which I’m happy to share in practice.) They will each be different, though can also inform each other. You may well come up with your own unique mix of the various techniques we’ll be working with.
There will be at the least a basic bodily sensing meditation, a meditation working more directly with how to feel subtle energy and work with it; a meditation working with the micro-movements of the breath to bring the body into a state of safety and relaxation; a meditation that works more directly with movement in the body and the sense of ‘observation/activity;’ a meditation to help process psycho-somatic material; a deep rest/relaxation meditation; and a couple more that I will determine in the group and in the moment, based on what people are responding to and looking for.
We have space for eight different meditations, and the idea is that you’ll likely find one or two new ones that are powerful for you, and for you to play, mix and match, and explore with on your own after the weekend, either to incorporate into your already existing meditation practice, or to start one.
Awakening to Your Avatar
*If you bring forth what is within you, what you bring forth will save you. If you do not bring forth what is within you, what you do not bring forth will destroy you.*
— Jesus, The Gospel of Thomas
The Eye of Horus. Sunlight on a Tree. The Church. The depths of the Oceans and the Twinkling of the Stars. The Sword, the King, the Circle.
Humanity has ever been in love with the symbols that radiate meaning — the images and stories through which we make sense of life, the world, and ourselves.
Today, we have access to more of these symbols than any people in history. And yet most of us have no practice for working with them — no way of discovering which energies are actually ours - that reflect the life that's trying to emerge through us, and how to embody them.
Which means they work on us anyway — unconsciously. The Hero, the Martyr, the Rebel, the Good Child — archetypes that have us by the neck, governing how we live, what we pursue, what we sabotage. We are lived by symbols we have no control over.
There's another possibility, from the tantric traditions, whose practitioners have always worked directly with archetypal energy: deity yoga, visualization, mantra - as a central practice on the path of awakening. Entering into these expressions of divine, awakened energy and power until the boundary between you and them dissolves.
This weekend brings that possibility to your own life, and can become a powerful approach and ally on your path.
**Awakening to Your Avatar** is a weekend of working directly with the archetypal energies that compose your life — mapping them, practicing with them, and learning to embody and emanate them.
**April 11–12, Amsterdam.**
Co-led by Andrew and Ellen Waenink.
**About Andrew:**
*I've been fascinated with the way reality appears through symbols for most of my life — the stories and images through which life communicates itself, and the ways we relate to those symbols. I'm a dreamer, poet, and storyteller, with decades of practice in relationship with the mysteries that symbols and archetypes can open us into. As a coach, I've worked for years with the imaginal metaphors that seem to shape our lives — the archetypes and energies that move us before we're even aware of them. Symbols hold and reflect so much of our potential and power. The Avatar practice grew out of all of this — out of a conviction that we can work consciously with the energies that compose our lives, rather than being unconsciously governed by them. I teach this because I've found it one of the most direct ways to help someone come alive — not as an idea of themselves, but as the full, embodied, archetypal being they already are.*
**About Ellen:**
*I am a coach and facilitator devoted to helping people discover and embody more of who they are, and to come into conscious relationship with the deeper forces that shape their lives and reality.*
*My own path includes tantric practices such as deity yoga — a way of working directly with archetypal energies through visualization and the body, allowing them to become lived experience. I also work with subtle energy and the differentiated fields of intelligence known as the 20-Count. Learning to sense and relate to these layers has cultivated a deep reverence and awe for the intelligence that moves through us and through the wider field of reality.*
*Over the years, I have facilitated workshops and spaces where people experiment with connection, surrender, expression and inhabiting different energies. Again and again, I've witnessed how this opens greater aliveness, eros, and creative range — and allows something more true to emerge.*
*I care deeply about approaching this work in a grounded and respectful way. I aim to create spaces where you can meet more of yourself, and learn to consciously relate to the energies and intelligences that are everywhere present and available to move through you.*
**What will we actually do?**
You'll leave this weekend with a living map of your own inner energies and a practice for working with them. Along the way:
- What is an Avatar? What is an Archetype? — generating this understanding together
- Coming up with your Avataric Mandala: a map of your own inner energies and potentials
- Learning how to practice with Energy and Symbol
- Practicing with an Entelechy — that "self" you are when given 10,000 lifetimes to evolve
- Embodying and emanating particular energies at will, and working with them in daily life
**What you'll walk away with:**
A living map of your own archetypal energies — and the felt, embodied experience of what it's like to step into them. Not just intellectually. In your body.
This weekend will expand your range — your capacity to feel and move with different energies in your body, including the ones your nervous system habitually avoids. The fierce ones, the tender ones, the ones you've kept at arm's length. You'll learn to step consciously into and out of these energies — and to integrate on your own home frequency, so that the work lands in *your* life, not just in the room.
You'll leave with a practice you can keep working with — a way of accessing these energies deliberately, in daily life, rather than being unconsciously run by them.
Each day will have a mix of sessions, practices, and discussions. We begin each day at 10AM, breaking at 1PM for a 90-minute lunch. Saturday ends at 6PM, Sunday at 5:30PM.

**Qs:**
*Is this blatant narcissism? Would I just be worshipping myself?*
No, entirely not. We are using these energies to tap the intuitions we each have that form us prior to our becoming aware of them as egos. While there is deep wisdom in working with instantiations of the divine — i.e. Deity Yoga (and I recommend that and work in this way myself!) — there is something else available from working with the signature of one's own highest representation. This is an important aspect of the unique path of 21st century Tantra that I teach. Or in short -- no no, earnest practice in this way is more likely to dissolve your ego than indulge it.
*Um... is this dangerous? Actually, yes -- it can be. We will situate with a few important practices that help to keep this from being too much. The irony here is that the power of these symbols and forms doesn't leave you alone if you don't work with them deliberately -- you just become their tool. We aim to equip you with a few crucial, crucial practices and orientations so that you can work consciously in this way.
*Do I need to have practiced any of this before coming to the workshop?*
Not exactly. This workshop is more helpful for people with at least some practice, in whatever form (yoga, Circling, meditation, etc.) If this is the first thing you're going to do on the path of awakening and personal development, reach out to see if it's a fit. Otherwise, welcome in, game on.
What is it Like to Be You? A Circling Weekend
Imagine a practice that wakes you up — not through effort or striving, but through presence. That heals old wounds by meeting them, not analyzing them. That shows you dimensions of yourself you didn't know were there. That deepens your capacity to stay grounded and real in intensity — in love, in conflict — in the moments that actually matter in your day to day life.
A practice that integrates everything you've been working on — your meditation, your bodywork, your therapy, your years on the cushion — and lands it in the space between you and another person. Or, if you've never practiced before — starts you right where you are.
And it starts with an absurdly simple question:
**What is it like to be you?**
Not the story you've told a hundred times, or what you think people want to hear. Really, just now, and here — what is it like to be you?
That practice is Circling, and on May 30th and 31st in Amsterdam, I'm hosting a weekend to practice it together.
**May 30–31, Amsterdam.**

**Renewing the practice**
Over the past year I've written a book on Circling. It started as something to help people who came to my weekends ground in some of the basic approaches we take when practicing, but it became something much bigger: a renewal of the practice, from the ground up.
For years, I've been asking: what is actually happening when we Circle? What is it that we're doing, and how can you best teach that? What makes it transformative, and not just interesting? And how does this practice connect to the larger path of healing and awakening that many of us are already on with meditation, embodiment work, therapy, psychedelics, tantra, etc?
What I've found has been a revelation — not because it was new, but because it had always been there. Circling is a practice of awakening, a foundational practice for a 21st century tantra. One that happens *in* relationship, and that can help integrate everything else into your actual, lived, day-to-day life.
This weekend is a launch — for the book, for this approach -- and more!

Oh! The Book!
I'm in the editing and design phase now -- so stay tuned! I'll make some announcements on FB when it's ready to share, or you can sign up to my email list at andrewlouisvenezia.life for when it's ready.

**What we'll do:**
This is an Anchor Circling weekend -- what others call a Birthday Circle. You'll have the chance to receive a kind of deep, attuned attention that most of us rarely experience in ordinary life. And you'll learn a number of different practices and approaches to help you weave this kind of presence into your everyday.
Expect:
- Intro practices to ground us and make the work accessible
- Anchor Circles — the core of the weekend
- Clear teaching on *what* we're practicing, *why* it matters, and how this connects to a larger path of awakening and integration
This is the beginning of a journey — into the depth of presence, truth and aliveness of your very own heart.

**Questions?**
*Do I need Circling experience?*
Nope! If you have a practice of some kind — meditation, yoga, therapy, any form of inner work — you'll find your way in. If this is genuinely your first step into any kind of practice, reach out to me first and we'll see if it's a fit.
*Is this an intro workshop?*
Yes, and no -- the format, and the practice, should be accessible to anyone. But even if you've been a longtime Circler there ought to be something helpful for you in this approach -- that ends up being the case for many people I talk to about their experience with the practice. And of course, the depth of what is possible is determined by the people in the room.
*How is this different from other Circling?*
Stay tuned! In short, though, the relationship to a practice of awakening is clearer and more explicit, the actual "moves" we do when we Circle are organized and taught differently, and my pedagogical (teaching) and organizational style is different from the other Circling schools. In some sense, you'll recognize this immediately as Circling, and very little in the practice might look different. In another sense, everything is changed.
